This is the completed storyboard I have produced for the music video I am making for the song 'Suede' by Vanilla as part of my A2 course. It has and will continue to be useful for my planning as it allows me to see exactly what kind of shots I am going to get, as well as any actors, locations, props etc. that I'll need to arrange for the shoot to be of highest quality. It also proves useful on set, removing the need to come up with shots on the spot, making the shoot more efficient, but also allowing you to put more thought into the shots themselves which improves greatly the overall quality of the video.

A detailed story board but a little difficult to follow as numerical order of shots a bit random! I recall you telling me that this is about a character who breaches the boundaries between illusion and reality and ends up performing in the music video or?
ReplyDeleteYour idea reminds me of Woody Allen's "Purple Rose of Cairo" 1985)which is about a waitress Cecilia who keeps going to the matinee of the same film. After Cecilia sits through the film several times, Tom, noticing her, breaks the fourth wall, and emerges from the black-and-white screen into the colourful real world on the other side of the cinema's screen...then Tom takes Cecilia beyond the screen into his film world......
It may be worth you at least looking at the trailer which is on You Tube. It's also a great movie because it is a metaphor for the artifice of the world of cinema.
Tom is the hero of the film....one of Woody Allen's greats.
ReplyDeleteI've had an idea. During the edit it may be possible for you to include multiple images of the woman to suggest obsession. Also a twist at the end.
ReplyDeleteThe character bumps into the girl on the street or where ever and either acknowledges or ignores her. Suggesting he has built a fantasy of celebrity around an ordinary girl. Just a thought.
I saw you editing from your story board so it was well used during post production. This is excellent practice.
