1) Slide 2: Re Panel 1: It would be useful to include a screen shot from your music video. Re the rose petals symbolising romance, it would be useful to include the notion of the performer being bewitched or infatuated. The roses signify his state of mind.
2) Slide 3, you need to re-organize. The images are masking some of the text thus I am unable to read the text.
3) Slide 6: The final section of your commentary falls off the edge of the slide. Re the image of the anonymous image of the female, this seems to reinforce the notion of the performer being seduced by technology and falling head over heels to an illusion of romance.
4) Panels 2, 3 & 4. Again the text is too large for the size of the slide. I’d also explain the link to the end of the music video and the connotations throughout your music video the power of illusion. This also link to audience theory (Uses and Gratification – Blumler and Katz)) in that the male is an embodiment of the theory : that media texts are a diversion , an escape from everyday problems and routine. That audiences use the media for emotional and other interaction, eg: substituting soap operas for family life ; identifying with artists, fans feeling as though they belong to a special group,. Thus the male is using the image of the girl for emotional interaction and falls for her …. It’s as if she is a Siren from the Greek myth, the Sirens were beautiful and with their sounds enticed ships onto the rocks. But of course in your music video the performer breaks through the 4th wall and suffers no injury…or?
5) You need to link your magazine advert to the digipak and to the music video, I suggest screen shots will be useful here.
6) Excellent examples and evaluations of real print productions.
7) Check in your final draft that all your text is visible, this may mean shrinking your visual examples.
At present I’d suggest a Level 3, if text is not visible and you don’t include the coherence between your advertisement, digipak and music video then the examiners could drop the level !!! With revisions this could be Level 4.
